Code of Ethics that are meaningful to me...

The first one that is meaningful to me is "Recognize that children and adults achieve their full potential in the context of relationships that are based on trust and respect."
Throughout our work this quarter we have been brought back to the foundation of relationships in the life of a child. This is the core part of our work: relationships with children and the relationships the children have within their own lives.

The second is also from NAEYC, " Recognize and respect the unique qualities, abilities and potential  of each child." This so important especially since we do assessments and watch development. There is so much room on either side of normal. Respecting each child and their uniqueness is a gift to that child.

The third meaningful code is from DEC. "We shall empower families with information and resources so they are informed consumers of services for their child." This is where being knowledgeable about the resources in your community can be helpful. This helps us be more respected in our field. When we have a deeper understanding of what services are offered and point the parents in the right direction we are more professional. We are also an advocate.

After reviewing professionalism and advocacy I was able to see where I am lacking. I was also able to see where I am excelling.
