Equity in Early Childhood

It has been so exciting to be in contact with Dr. Kamau. I asked her about equity in early childhood and I have included her response;
Hi Catherine,
There is no equity because although we have free primary education the early childhood years are not included. Therefore majority of poor families are not able to take their children to the day care or nursery schools because they cannot afford it.

My thoughts on this are that it mirrors our k-12 system yet seems that the childcare-preschool component are expensive and for the rich. They are void of programs such as Head Start. This is sad and I am sure the gaps begin to show in the early years.
