I began my professional experience the day I gave birth to my first child. No amount of education could prepare me for the task I had undertaken. I had my degree in Elementary Education. I had babysat since I was twelve. I was a nanny in college. I had a year of teaching under my belt. The idea of being the primary educator of a little human in my home gave me a thirst for understanding, research, application and outcome. I approached my vocation as mother with love but also with the desire to create a love of learning and to make sure everything my child needed was covered.
I believe that my role as mother and Director of The Early Learning Center were callings. I also believe that my role in the community as a foster parent/mentor/adoptive parent were also strong callings in my life. I am contributing to social change on the micro planet of life. It is my hope that my contributions will ultimately affect the macro planet by a ripple effect. This is truly the beauty and the gift of my professional life. I have the capability on a daily basis to compound change and impart goodness into the heart of a child through my listening and guiding; into the mind of a parent through example and teaching; into the hand of a teacher through inspiration. I desire to live everyday with purpose and intention. That is my passion. As I journey in life and complete numerous credit hours, conferences, staff trainings, teaching, cleaning, substituting, reading to children, doing detailed administrative work, meeting deadlines, addressing state licensing issues, creating curriculum, meeting parents; my true vocation and my true love began in my home with my children. They are my inspiration to learn and study the young child. They ignited my heart.
